We’re approaching a new phase of life for Diablo 3, but now we know more about what the future holds. After 30, future seasons will run roughly every three months (akin to D4‘s planned rotation) and highlight “iconic themes and features from Seasons past.” However, Seasons 29 and 30 are (thus far) the only potential competition: Season 29 with the Visions of Enmity and Season 30 bringing balance changes and the permanent return of the Altar of Rites (but no dedicated new theme). Season 28’s length sets it as the longest season in D3‘s history with a run time of 28 weeks and 2 days (comparable to Diablo 2 Legacy‘s ladder seasons). The preview post also answers how the D3 team will move forward. (Confirmed) Season 29 start: September 15, 2023.Season 28 end announcement: August 28, 2023.Blizzard can check the box for our final estimation with Friday’s preview post: With Blizzard’s forum confirmation of the Season 28 end date, we were able to firm up our estimations. PTR dates have marked the initial “last call” for the current season in the past. We base future season start and end dates on past season lengths (confirming them with coming patch announcements), but we’ve expected Diablo 3 to go into maintenance mode after the upcoming release of Diablo 4. Since then, Blizzard released the preview post for Season 29 “Visions of Emnity.” So when does Season 29 start? The confirmed date is Friday, Septemat 5 p.m. In a Diablo 4 PR event, the Blizzard team included a delightful tidbit regarding future Diablo 3 seasons - specifically, we will have a unique (although “less rich than Season 28”) theme for Diablo 3 Season 29, and past themes will be revisited starting in Season 30.
